Iran's exports via its East Azerbaijan province significantly increases

In the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Iran's exports of goods via the customs of its East Azerbaijan province increased by 80 percent in terms of value, an official with East Azerbaijan Customs Administration Leyli Orangi said, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

During the reported period, 599,000 tons of goods worth $720 million were exported via borders of East Azerbaijan, she said. Main exported goods included rubber, iron, steel, copper, fruits, technical equipment, glass and grains.

The goods were supplied to 79 countries, including Turkey, Iraq, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Afghanistan, Italy, Bulgaria and Pakistan, the customs official said.

She further added that 109,000 tons of goods worth $264 million were imported through the customs of the province to Iran. Imports increased by 52 percent in terms of weight and by 40 percent in terms of value, she said.

According to her, main imported goods included various equipment and spare parts, tobacco and tobacco products, meat and meat products, paper, iron and steel products, and cacao. Orangi added that the goods were supplied from 43 countries, including, among others, Turkey, the UAE, Germany, China, Georgia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Austria and Spain.
