New fruit, vegetable plant set up in Georgian Kakheti region

Fruit and vegetable processing plant "Georges Nachrich", equipped up to modern standards and built with financial support of the state, has opened in the center of Kvareli municipality of Kakheti region of Georgia, Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.

Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia Georgi Khanishishvili, Governor of the Kakheti region IIrakli Kadagishvili and Director of Agricultural Project's Management Agency Paata Shekeladze visited the plant and got acquainted with the production process.

“Under the programs successfully implemented by the Government in order to support the development of the agricultural sector, over 190 enterprises have been established over the past five years. The standards introduced at the 'Georges Nachrich' enterprise confirm the focus on high quality,” said Georgi Khanishishvili.

Annually, the new enterprise will produce 4,000 tons of fruits and vegetables, which are intended for export. The company , which employs 25 staff members, is a beneficiary of a co-financing project for the food industry.

In total, 2,808,920 lari were invested in the enterprise, of which 630,200 lari were provided in the form of a grant, and 1,252,000 lari were allocated as a concessional loan. At this stage, the standard for organic production is being introduced. In August 2019, the company will be registered as an enterprise for processing of organic products.
