Iran eyes to expand and improve air and maritime transportation to Abu Musa Island in eastern Persian Gulf for tourism development, said Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Mohammad Rastad.
"Hormozgan Governorate is to suggest supportive mechanisms to improve and expand air and maritime transportation capacities at the Abu Musa Island," said Rastad, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The Ports & Maritime Organization of Iran is drafting a development plan for the country's islands in next two months to expand the development of Iran's islands," he added.
"The required infrastructure for maritime tourism and supportive mechanisms are the priorities of the PMO to expand tourism at the Abu Musa Island," he noted.
"The government has approved the Abu Musa Island development plan in this regard. Relevant suggestions will be submitted to special working group at the National Security Council to follow the regulations and implement the plan," he add.
"The proposed plan to expand ports will be implemented after cohesive studies," he said.
