China allocates over $3M for development of Uzbek cotton industry

New innovative Uzbek-Chinese cotton growing laboratory is being created in the Cotton breeding, seed production and agrotechnologies research institute of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has allocated $3.6 million worth of investments for setting up the laboratory, as well as for supplying laboratory with necessary equipment and chemical reagents.

Furthermore, the funding oversees training of Uzbek scientists and specialists in the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Within the initiative, three Uzbek scientists will go to China for studies in August or September.

Furthermore, currently, the possibility of purchasing and distributing new trans genetic types of cotton created by Chinese scientists is being looking into for further testing on the area of 1,000 ha in Uzbekistan.
