Export of non-oil goods from Iran's East Azerbaijan province increases

The export of non-oil goods from Iran’s western East Azerbaijan province during three months (March 21-June 21) of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019) increased by 45 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year, deputy chairman dealing with trade and trade development issues of Iran's Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the East Azerbaijan province Gulamali Rasti said.

Rasti made the remarks at the meeting of the working group on the development of export of non-oil goods, Trend reports referring to the organization's website.

During the reporting period, 612,000 tons of goods worth $751 million were exported, he added.

He said that the goods of the province were exported to 79 countries, mainly to Turkey, Iraq, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China and Afghanistan.

During the reporting period, 40 percent of the goods exported from the East Azerbaijan province accounted for industrial products. Among the mainly exported goods were metals (15.5 percent) and agricultural products (13.5 percent), he said.

He said that the export of metals increased by 250 percent. Thus, metal products worth more than $17 million were exported during the reporting period.

Some 11 percent of the goods worth more than $84 million were exported from the Araz Free Trade Zone. The export of goods from this zone increased by 34 percent, he said.

Rasti said that 110,000 tons worth $265 million were imported to the province during the reporting period.

The import of goods increased by 52 percent in terms of weight and by 40 percent in terms of value during three months of this Iranian year compared to the same period of last year, he said.
