Export of wine increases in Georgia

Georgia exported 37,795,800 liters of alcoholic beverages in January-June 2019, which is 8.4 percent less than the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistics Department of Georgia.

At the same time, exports of natural wine increased by 7.9 percent and amounted to 30,728,800 liters, while export of other alcohol and alcoholic beverages decreased by 1.8 times and reached 7,670,00 liters.

According to the statistical service, revenues from the export of alcoholic beverages for the six months of 2019 amounted to $148.4 million (a decrease of 1.5 percent). From exports of wine was obtained $97.2 million (an increase of 9.6 percent), alcohol - $51.2 million (a decrease of 17.4 percent).

The share of wine decreased from 5.6 percent to 5.5 percent, ranking 5th in the list of the country's main export goods, the share of alcoholic beverages and alcohol decreased from 3.9 percent to 2.9 percent, ranking 8th.

In January-June 2019, Georgian wine was delivered to 44 countries, alcohol - to 18 countries.
