The gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan for January-June 2019 in current prices, in accordance with the preliminary estimates, amounted to 222.02 trillion soums ($2.57 billion) and, compared to January-June 2018, increased by 5.8 percent, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
GDP per capita amounted to 6.64 million soums and, compared with the corresponding period last year, increased by 3.9 percent.
The share of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the sectorial structure of GDP (gross value added - GVA) decreased from 27.3 percent to 24.3 percent, while the share of industry increased from 27.1 percent to 30,3 percent, and construction - from 7.3 percent to 7.6 percent.
The share of the service sector in the sectorial structure of GDP (GVA) was 37.8 percent and, compared to the same period last year, decreased by 0.5 percentage points.
The economic growth rate is due to the positive dynamics in the main sectors of the economy. The gross value added created by all sectors of the economy accounted for 90 percent of total GDP and increased by 5.8 percent. Net taxes on products amounted to 10 percent of GDP and showed an increase of 5.9 percent.
The results of January-June 2019 show that positive growth rates of 2.1 percent are observed in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. The positive dynamics in the sector is ensured mainly due to the growth of crop production by 3.2 percent and livestock by 1.7 percent.
There is a 6.9 percent increase in value added in industry. The positive dynamics in the industry was ensured due to the growth of the added value of the mining industry and the development of quarries by 4.7 percent, the manufacturing industry - by 7.8 percent and other industries - by 4 percent.
In the reporting period, the largest share in the structure of the gross value added of the manufacturing industry is accounted for the metallurgical and metalworking industry (except for machinery and equipment) - 34.6 percent.
As a result of the large-scale work being carried out, the volume of construction work, as compared with the corresponding period of the last year, grew by 20 percent.
In January-June 2019, the index-deflator of GDP increased by 19.6 percent relative to prices of the same period of 2018. The highest values of the deflator index in the structure of GDP were recorded in industry (+36.5 percent) and other services industries (+31 percent).
The deflator index below the national average is recorded in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (+13.8 percent), trade, accommodation and food services (13.3 percent), construction (13 percent), transportation and storage, information and communications (+10.1 percent), in net taxes on products (–6.3 percent).
