A second industrial park is planned to be opened in the capital of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan city, Trend reports with reference to the report of the news channel Kazakh TV.

“The first industrial park is almost full. Projects of the automotive and food industries, construction and pharmaceutical enterprises as well as IT companies and scientific research companies will be established on the territory of the new zone,” the report said.

“We plan to expand 26 types of activities. We envisaged to implement a very large number of projects and we are interested in all the projects that can be implemented on the territory of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ),” Deputy Board Chairman of Astana Technopolis SEZ Mukhtar Ibrayev said.

He further noted that currently there are two SEZs in the city. The first one covers the administrative business center of the city and the existing industrial park. Nine other projects are operating on the territory of the second SEZ. These nine participants of SEZ are all Kazakh companies, however two of them were established by companies from US and China.

“The thing is that these companies are attracting new technology to Kazakhstan and develop it on the territory of the country,” he added.

According to experts, the SEZ projects can be of any scale, from large multi-billion dollar projects with the attraction of foreign investment and wide export potential to small but important for the development of the city. Experts say that the main thing is that the projects must be high-tech and innovative.

The idea to create a second industrial park has been announced by the Head of Nur-Sultan city Altai Kulginov. He noted that the territory of existing industrial park is 95 percent full, which is why the idea to create a second park and the expansion of the territory of SEZ is being considered in the akimat (administrative center) in order to create new manufacturing.
