National Iranian Copper Industries Company sees 26% production growth

During the five months (March 21-August 22) of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), copper cathode production by the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICI) exceeded the plan by 26 percent, NICI Managing Director Ardashir Sad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Shata news agency.

He said that the company produced 110,390 tons of copper cathode during the reporting period. He added that 140,000 tons of anodes were produced during this period. This is a 27 percent increase over the 110,000 ton plan, he noted.

“During the five months, the company produced more than 124,000 tons of refined copper, and this exceeds the plan by 4 percent,” he said.

A total of 79.13 million tons of mining materials were produced during the five months, and this indicates a 4-percent increase over the plan (76.21 million tons), he noted.

He added that the company produced 56.71 million tons of sulfur during the reporting period. This exceeds the plan (54.6 million tons) by 4 percent, he said.

The company sold products worth 17 trillion rials (about $404 million) in the fifth month (July 22 - August 22). Thus, the company’s sales reached 84.6 trillion rials (about $2.014 billion) during the five months, he added.

He said that the company’s sales increased by 114 percent compared to the same period last year.
