Over 140 industrial projects to be implemented in Kazakhstan's Turkestan

Some 87 projects worth 503 billion tenge are to be implemented in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region in 2020, whereas another 145 projects worth 865 billion tenge are to be implemented there in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the press office of prime minister of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, 19 projects worth 14.4 billion tenge, which will create over 1,000 new work places will be implemented in Turkestan in 2019 within the framework of State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development.

According to the results of first seven months of 2019, investments in fixed capital of the region increased from 124.8 to 179.4 billion tenge, investments in the manufacturing industry from 7.01 to 8.4 billion tenge, foreign direct investment from 11.9 to 19.1 billion tenge.

“Priority investment sectors are industry, real estate, and education. The volume of industrial production in January-August 2019 amounted to 323.9 billion tenge. Growth compared to last year amounted to almost six percent,” the report said.

The projects on construction of a cotton factory with a design capacity of 4,500 tons per month, a cotton factory with a capacity of 20,000 tons per year, and a poultry complex with a capacity of 2,000 tons of broiler meat are underway in the region. There are plans to build a plant for the production of reinforced concrete products, a meat processing workshop, a milk processing factory, and a pasta production workshop.

The construction of ventures for the recycling of plastic, barite ore, a fish processing plant, the production of iodized salt, the manufacture of furniture facades, the production of ready-mixed concrete, asphalt concrete mixtures of reinforced concrete and concrete products is planned.

A special economic zone “Turkistan” has been created in the region with a total area of ​​1,938. Tourist accommodation, sanatorium and health facilities, infrastructure, residential complexes, hospitals, schools, museums will be created on the territory of the zone.

Foreign trade turnover of the Turkistan region in January-June 2019 amounted to $164 million, or 33.7 percent more than the corresponding period of 2018, including export worth $120.2 million (increase of 30.8 percent), import $43.8 million (increase of 142.4 percent).
