World Bank representatives suggested finding a unique development idea for Tashkent, the purpose of which is to distinguish the capital of Uzbekistan from other cities, Trend reports citing the press service of the Tashkent administration.

A meeting of representatives of the World Bank with the metropolitan authorities was held in the city administration. The parties discussed issues of urban planning, utilities and architecture. In urban planning, taking into account sustainable development, it is necessary to have a program to respond to possible risks and threats. It can be economic, environmental and demographic problems.

The meeting participants familiarized themselves with the presentation of urban planning by Dr. Joseph Runzo-Inada about the city of Toyama (Japan). The city is the winner of world city competitions and is among the top 5 most advanced megacities in the world. All this would not have been possible without a sustainable development program.

Moreover, experts emphasized that the sustainable development program is being developed in stages. The first stage is the direction of movement; the second is the strategy and principles of its implementation. Separately, the interconnection of the city with the adjacent rural settlements should be taken into account.

Now, within two months, an organization will be found for Tashkent that will help in developing such a strategy. It is expected that the creation of a really working plan for sustainable development will take up to a year and a half.
