The fourth round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Malaysia was held in the capital of Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Trend reports citing the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
The participants discussed the prospects and possibilities of bilateral relations in political, trade and economic, investment, tourism, cultural and humanitarian and other fields.
The parties noted with satisfaction the steady growth in mutual trade, the total volume of which in 2018 exceeded $78 million, which is almost 20 percent more than the same indicator of the previous year, said the message.
Moreover, as noted, the countries have significant potential for increasing trade.
In this context, the question was raised of resuming the meetings of the Joint Trade Committee after a 10-year hiatus.
During the negotiations, it was also stated about the need to further increase bilateral investment cooperation and tourist exchanges, especially in the field of ziyarat (pilgrimage to holy places) tourism, and discussed practical aspects of the implementation of the respective joint projects on a mutually beneficial basis.
The issues of expanding the legal framework of the Uzbek-Malaysian partnership were examined separately.
The consultations also held an exchange of views on issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, on regional and international issues.
