Kazakhstan to start purchasing railway trains in Russia

Kazakhstan is to purchase railway trains from Russia’s Transmashholding, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Berik Kamaliyev said, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.

According to the vice minister, Kazakh party has terminated a contract with Spain’s Talgo company, which was supplying trains to Kazakhstan.

“Currently, we are holding negotiations with Transmashholding company. We are putting forwards a condition for the company to enter a fiduciary management of the plant. We are going to purchase trains and in the case if our conditions are filfiled, the ministry together with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) will consider the company to be a strategic partner,” the Kamaliyev said.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan has already received 63 trains from Russia via DBK Leasing.

“These trains are operating on the Aktobe-Mangyshlak route. All of the trains were manufactured in Tver city of Russia. They are providing us with good discount. At present, we are requesting another 18.7 billion tenge via DBK Leasing. These trains are to operate on Almaty-Mangyshlak, Aktobe-Mangyshlak and Nur-Sultan-Saryagash routes,” the vice minister concluded.
