Iran discloses value of products exported through East Azerbaijan province

The goods worth over $1.8 billion were exported through the customs services of Iran’s western East Azerbaijan province during first seven months (from March 21 through October 22) of this Iranian year, Customs Inspector of the province and Director General of Tabriz customs service Leyli Orangi told reporters in Iran.

“Some 1.6 million tons of products were exported from March 21 through October 22 of this year, which is 27 percent more than in the same period of last year,” Orangi added. “The export value increased by 1.18 times.”

“We mainly exported steel and iron, rubber products, copper, technical equipment, glass, fruits, cereals,” the customs inspector added.

Orangi stressed that about 80 percent of the products were exported to Turkey, Iraq, Georgia and China.

“During the reporting period, over 311,000 tons of products worth more than $700 million were imported through the provincial customs services to Iran,” the customs inspector added.

“More than 70 percent of this import accounted for tobacco and tobacco products, technical equipment, meat and meat products, paper, rubber products, wood and wood products and electrical equipment,” Orangi added.

“More than half of these products were imported from Turkey, the UAE, Germany, China and Georgia,” the customs inspector said.

Orangi added that provincial customs services’ revenues amounted to over 3.7 trillion rials (about $88 million) from March 21 through October 22 of this year, which is 23 percent more than in the same period of last year.
