Russia to support startups in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Innovative Development and Russian Skolkovo Innovation Center have signed an agreement providing support for Uzbek startup projects, Trend reports citing Ministry’s press service.

In particular, the document provides for the participation of Uzbek start-up projects on demo-days organized by Skolkovo.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Innovative Development Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, held talks with the chairman of Skolkovo Arkady Dvorkovich. The parties discussed promising joint projects.

“Skolkovo is a vivid example of an innovative scientific youth town. As part of getting acquainted with the activities of the center and observing your successes, I once again became convinced of the need for joint projects. In this regard, it is necessary to organize webinars of Skolkovo Innovation Center’s experience on a regular basis for Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions,” the minister said.

Dvorkovich expressed readiness to support start-ups in Uzbekistan, share experience in this field, as well as to provide assistance in improving the skills of startups. In addition, a start-up tour is planned in the second half of 2020, as part of which the leading specialists of the Skolkovo Innovation Center will visit Uzbekistan and organize training courses for representatives of Uzbekistan’s start-up ecosystem.

In turn, an agreement was reached on training young people at the international gymnasium in Skolkovo, and on improving the skills of Uzbek specialists.
