From January through November 2019, the total value of footwear, clothing, yarn and leather goods produced in Azerbaijan amounted to 378 million manat ($222.3 million), which is 36.2 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, Trend reports referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.
The production of clothing increased by 11.5 percent, while the production of leather goods and footwear and the production of yarn decreased by 1.3 percent in the first 11 months of 2019.
In the reporting period, the retail turnover of yarn products, clothing and footwear exceeded 6.3 billion manat ($3.7 billion), having increased by 4.1 percent on annualized basis.
Clothing and footwear accounted for about 18.4 percent of consumer spending.
The prices for clothes increased by 0.4 percent, the prices for footwear increased by 0.4 percent and the prices for fabrics increased by 0.1 percent in November compared to October 2019. The prices for these products increased by 0.6 percent, 1.2 percent and 3.4 percent on the annualized basis, respectively.
