Budget of Uzbekistan’s capital city Tashkent will be 3.5 trillion Uzbek soums ($369.2 million) in 2020, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

According to the information, the main focus of the budget will be social sphere and capital construction. Construction of new roads, hospitals, kindergartens and schools is planned; however, the amount of funds allocated for these purposes was not disclosed.

As reported, the number of residential buildings constructed in 2019 amounted to 350 buildings (15,972 apartments), which is approximately 90 apartments more than in 2018.

The budget also receives over 20 billion soums ($2.1 million) annually via rent of municipal property.

In mid-December, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law ‘On the State Budget of Uzbekistan for 2020’. The president approved the leveling of equalizing inter-budget transfers allocated from the republican budget to the local budgets of the regions for 2020.
