Most of the companies with the participation of foreign capital created in Uzbekistan in 2019 were opened by investors from China, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The number of Chinese companies operating in Uzbekistan has grown by almost a third.
As of January 1, 2020, 1,652 companies created by entrepreneurs from China were registered in the country, which is 531 more than last year.
However, China is in second place in terms of the number of operating companies, according to a review by the State Committee on Statistics. The leader in Uzbekistan is Russia, which owns 1,828 companies. Of these, 401 were created in 2019.
Turkey takes third place: 1,271 companies, of which 397 were opened during the past year.
In general, 7,560 companies with foreign capital operate in Uzbekistan. Last year, 2,043 of them were created. There are 4,006 companies with joint venture status, the remaining 3,554 are foreign.
Most of all investors are interested in Tashkent, where the vast majority of companies with foreign capital are located – 4,728 (62.5 percent). Moreover, entrepreneurs often choose the Tashkent region (851 companies, or 11.3 percent) and the Samarkand region (396 companies, or 5.2 percent).
According to the sectorial breakdown, 2,995 companies (39.6 percent) work in industry, 1,668 (22 percent) - in trade.
