Uzbek-American company starts operating in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan

An Uzbek-American JV Agrocomplex Korakalpogiston, has started operating in Takhtakupyr district of Karakalpakstan, autonomous republic of Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan National News Agency.

Agrocomplex will specialize on cattle breeding. At the moment, there are 200 heads of thoroughbred cattle brought from Kazakhstan's Karaganda region.

At the beginning of 2020, 12 out of 274 farms of Takhtakupyr district were engaged in cattle breeding, and today their number has reached to 106, the report said.

Agrocomplex Korakalpogiston allocated 458 hectares of sown areas and 1,000 hectares of pastures to increase the number of cattle to 1,000.

The company plans to bring to Takhtakupyr district 100 cattle from Germany and 100 mares from Mongolia and Russia.

During his visit to Takhtakupyr district in December 2017, President of Uzbekistan ordered to transform the Takhtakupyr district into an area specializing in farming.

The Korakalpogiston Agrocomplex JV launched a livestock breeding complex worth almost 20 billion soums ($2.1 million).
