As many as 5 million tons of mining items were extracted in the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019) from Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province in southwestern Iran, said Mehrdad Ghasemi, an official responsible for the mining and mineral industry affairs in the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the province, Trend reports with reference to the website of the organization.
According to Ghasemi, silica, heat-resistant soil, ornamental stones and cement used for metal-smelting and steel and aluminum production were extracted from 90 mines of the province.
Ghasemi added that 729 billion rials (about $17.3 million) have been invested in 90 mines operating in 10 districts of the province.
The official said that currently, 1,600 people work in the mines of the province.
According to report of Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, in 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to January 20, 2020), 200,000 tons of raw steel, 512,000 tons of cement, 12,600 tons of coal concentrate, and 3.3 million square meters of ceramics were produced in Iran.
