Production and sale of copper increases in Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16

Iran's copper production increased by 8 percent and sales by 145 percent during 11 months of current Iranian year (March 21, 2019 through February 19, 2020), compared to the same period last year, said Managing Director of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company Ardashir Sad Mohammadi, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization( IMIDRO).

According to Mohammadi, National Iranian Copper Industries Company has sold 201.8 trillion rials (about $4.8 billion) worth of goods during 11 months of current Iranian year (March 21, 2019 to February 19, 2020).

Mohammadi added that the company's sales for the 11 months (January 21-February 19, 2020) stood at approximately 18.7 trillion rials (about $445 million).

The company official said that 224,300 tons of copper cathode was produced during 11 months. Also 274,200 tons of anodes were produced.

"About 218,600 tons of copper were produced in the Sarcheshmeh Copper Company during 11 months. In comparison with the plan (197,400 tons) the growth was 11 percent, compared to the same period last year, an increase of 19 percent," he said.

According to the company official, during 11 months 49.4 million tons of sulfur were exported, compared to the plan growth was 3 percent.
