By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran will manufacture some 80 ships next year (March 21, 2020), said Deputy Chairman for Engineering and Infrastructure Development of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Reza Allahyar, Trend reports citing organization's website.

According to Allahyar, these ships will be manufactured in partnership with the private sector.

Allahyar added that US sanctions against Iran have led to the use of the private sector's potential in domestic production.

The official added that production of equipment and spare parts in Iran's ports continues in the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019) and a total of 768 types of spare parts and equipment was produced.

Allahyar said that most production was recorded in two ports. At the Port of Emam Khomeyni 333 and port of Shahid Rajaee 305 spare parts and equipment were manufactured.

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies and individuals.
