Motor cars rank first in list of top export items in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19

Motor cars reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items of Georgia in January-February 2020, equaling $99.6 million or 18.9 percent of total exports, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As reported, the exports of copper ores and concentrates ranked second totaling $89.2 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 16.9 percent.

The precious metal ores and concentrates exports occupied the third place standing at $42.4 million and constituting 8.1 percent of the total exports.

The top import commodities in January-February 2020 were motor cars whose imports equaled $108.3 million (8.2 percent of the total imports).

The petroleum and petroleum oils followed with $105.7 million or 8 percent of imports. The petroleum gases and other gaseous were third in the top import commodity list with $104.4 million (7.9 percent of imports).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $1.85 billion in January-February 2020, 6 percent higher compared to the same period of 2019.
