Georgia cuts knitwear exports to Turkey

Georgia exported 242.9 tons knitted goods to Turkey for a total amount of $7.3 million from January through February 2020, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

On an annualized basis, Georgia reduced the export of knitwear by 19.4 tons. During the same period of last year, 263.6 tons of knitted goods totaling $5.4 million were exported from Georgia to Turkey.

Georgia exported 110.9 tons men's or boys' suits, ensembles, trousers, knitted or crocheted to Turkey for a total amount of $2.8 million from January through February 2020, which is 17 tons more compared to the same period last year.

From January through February 2020, Turkey exported 257 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns to Georgia for a total amount of $6.7 million.

On an annualized basis, Turkey decreased the export of other made up articles, including dress patterns to Georgia by $116 tons. From January through February 2019, 373.1 tons of other made up articles, including dress patterns were exported from Turkey to Georgia for a total of $6.1 million.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

From January through February 2020, total imports to Georgia from Turkey amounted to $214.5 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $36 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in January 2020 exceeded $250.5 million, which is 13.5 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.
