Kazakhstan reveals coal extracting plans for 2020

Kazakhstan is planning to extract 120 million tons of coal in 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

Some 82 million tons of the volume are to be sent to the local market, whereas remaining 38 tons of coal will be exported.

Thus, over the period from January to February 2020, some 18.3 million tons of coal were extracted by Kazakhstan’s coal extracting companies. Some 10.4 million tons of the volume were sent to energy producing companies, 936,800 tins to industrial ventures. Some 1.4 million tons were used for household needs, some 4.6 million tons of coal were exported.

The ministry said that akimats (administrative centers) of Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Almaty, Turkestan regions, as well as of Almaty and Shymkent cities met the planned volume of coal sent for household needs.

With an idea to develop Kazakhstan’s coal industry a “Roadmap for development of the coal industry of Kazakhstan for 2019-2021” was developed and approved in 2019, as well as a “Plan of the demand for coal products for household needs and the population for the period 2019-2020” was also developed.
