As the French private sector most representative association at an international level, MEDEF International has been active in Georgia for more than 25 years, since the country’s independence, Director of MEDEF International Bogdan Gadenne-Feertchak told Trend.
"Over the last 5-6 years, MEDEF International activities with Georgia have particularly intensified, especially due to the growing interest of French companies in the Georgian market. As a part of our activities, we welcome at MEDEF the members of Georgian International financial institutions and multilateral development banks, as well as representatives of the Georgian private sector. We also lead French business missions to Tbilisi on a regular basis," he said.
According to Gadenne-Feertchak, since 2017, MEDEF International has been working more closely with Business Association of Georgia and Invest in Georgia company, providing active and strong support to them.
"France and Georgia have been maintaining a sound relationship based on the historical friendship. In the past years, the bilateral trade has been growing: French investments in Georgia mainly concern retail, transport, hospitality and agribusiness sectors, while several investments have recently been made in telecommunications and in the engineering industry," he said.
France is among the top-15 investors in Georgia, but the country investments account only for about 2 percent of the total foreign direct investments (FDI) in the country, the director.
MEDEF International supports French companies in their operations in foreign markets, fosters partnerships and cooperation between French and foreign businesses, and contributes to the business environment’s improvements in the countries, where French companies are established.
