Iran's National Development Fund has assigned €50 million to supply water to villages in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said the Energy Minister.

"More than 700,000 residents of the country's villages will have access to clean water," said Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

Iran has already transferred water to 859 villages in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) by using a credit from the National Development Fund, he added.

"The agenda is to commission 250 water and power project worth $11 billion of investments this Iranian year," he said. "Some of them were already inaugurated at Tehran, Markazi, Ilam, Lorestan, and Sistan and Baluchestan Provinces in May, while other water and power projects will be launched in Fars Province."

"Total of 227 water and power projects with $7-billion investments were commissioned during last Iranian year, despite the sanctions pressures," the minister said.

The Iranian official added that Iraq has paid around $900 million as part of its payment for Iran's power import.

"Iran has launched new power project with Iraq; when implemented, it will increase power production capacity in Iraq by 30 percent and reduce power grid losses from 50 percent to 20 percent," said Ardakanian.
