Russia, UK buy diesel fuel at auction in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan sold diesel fuel to Russia and the United Kingdom at the auction of the State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan State News Agency.

In addition, diesel fuel was also purchased by entrepreneurs from the United Arab Emirates (the UAE), Turkey and Afghanistan. Furthermore, the same countries bought lighting kerosene. Both of these products were manufactured at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries in Turkmenistan and sold for foreign currency.

Businessmen from Russia, the UAE, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan bought dyed terry products and cotton yarn for foreign currency, said the agency.

Overall, the total amount of foreign transactions exceeded $17.1 million.

In addition to foreign currency, the exchange was carried out trade in the Turkmen manat.

Thus, entrepreneurs from the UK, Canada, the UAE, Turkey, and Kazakhstan purchased cotton yarn for a total of more than 18 million Turkmen manat ($5.1 million).

Turkmen businessmen also purchased products for the domestic market of the country at the auction. Thus, high-density polyethylene (manufactured at Turkmengas State Concern) and paraffin wax were purchased. The amount of transactions for the domestic market exceeded 1.29 million Turkmen manat (over $368,000).

The state commodity exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
