Uzbekistan simplifies import of medicines, medical devices

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan has exempted imported oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters and preparations containing zinc, selenium, magnesium and vitamin D from customs duties until October 1, 2020, Trend reports citing the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.

It is also allowed to sell imported medical equipment without mandatory certification.

At the same time, importers are responsible for the quality and safety of imported products and should report to the Uzstandart agency within five days after the sale.

A list of medicines that can be imported and produced without state registration has been defined, with a certificate following simplified chemical analysis. Among them: paracetamol, dexamethasone, azithromycin, ambroxol and others.

The Ministry of Transport has been instructed to take measures to provide practical assistance to those wishing to organize flights for the delivery of medicines and medical equipment to Uzbekistan.

Until October 1, 2020, the export of medicines, medical supplies and equipment from Uzbekistan is temporarily suspended (except for the customs regime of re-export).

At the same time, a permit for export of certain types of goods will be provided on the basis of a joint conclusion of the Republican Special Commission, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry.

The State Customs Committee and the Frontier Troops of the State Security Service will enhance border controls to prevent the illegal export of drugs and medical equipment.
