Yunusabad and Shaykhantakhur districts of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent city have the highest cost of housing, Trend reports citing a review of the Center for Economic Research and Reform of Uzbekistan (CERR).

Sales of the largest apartments in terms of both the number of rooms and areas were observed in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent.

The average cost of housing in Tashkent per square meter was $639.4.Yunusabad and Shaikhantakhur were leading districts in terms of cost per square meter which was $699 and $694, respectively.

The lowest prices per square meter were recorded in Bektemir and Sergeli District, $405, and $411 per square meter respectively.

Mirzo-Ulugbek and Yunusabad districts had the highest apartment sales in Tashkent, with numbers reaching over 23 and 17 percent respectively.

Since April 1, 2020, some 14,851 contracts of purchase and sale have been registered, 70 percent of which fall on transactions of citizens with a residence permit in other regions.

CERR experts attribute this to the result of changes in the registration institution.

“Before the abolition of the registration for the purchase of housing, the purchase and registration of apartments were carried out with the help of relatives or close people, those who had a permanent residence permit in the capital. Now those purchasers have re-registered houses in their name, which has affected a large number of contracts,” the message said.
