Lending to legal entities down in Kazakhstan year-on-year

Value of lending allocated by Kazakhstan’s second-tier banks to the country’s economy amounted to 13.9 trillion tenges ($33.2 billion) as of the end of July 2020, which is practically corresponds to the level as of the end of June 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

The value of lending to legal persons decreased by 0.1 percent amounting to 7.1 trillion tenges ($17.03 billion), whereas lending value to physical persons was 6.8 trillion tenges ($16.2 billion) which are 0.2 percent more than in June 2020.

According to the bank, the value of tenge-denominated loan value amounted to 11.7 trillion tenges ($28.03 billion), whereas the value of foreign currency-denominated loans increased by 0.4 percent to 2.1 trillion tenges ($5.2 billion).

The value of long term loans amounted to 11.9 trillion tenges in July 2020 ($28.4 billion) which is 0.4 percent more than in June 2020, whereas the value of short term loans decreased by 2 percent to 2.01 trillion tenges ($4.8 billion).

Lending to ventures of small entrepreneurship amounted to 2.1 trillion tenges in July 2020 ($5.1 billion), which is 1.3 percent more than in June 2020 and is 15.6 percent of the total value of loans allocated as of July 2020.

The largest share of loans accounts for industry (13.4 percent), trade (11.9 percent), construction (5 percent), and transport (3.6 percent).

Weighted average remuneration rate on tenge denominated loans to non-bank legal entities was 11.9 percent in July 2020 compared to 12 percent in July 2019, whereas to physical entities it was 16.7 percent compared to 18.9 percent in July 2019.
