Number of Turkish job seekers in Georgia drops

The number of job seekers from Turkey in Georgia sharply declined in the past 11 months of 2020, the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) told Trend.

From January through November 2020, the number of Turkish citizens who visited Georgia through İŞKUR to find work dropped by 6.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019. In total, 77 Turkish citizens visited the country via İŞKUR over the reporting period.

Meanwhile, 10,138 Turkish citizens went abroad via İŞKUR over the reporting period, which is 46.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.

In November 2020, 85,240 citizens were provided with jobs through this agency in Turkey. Some 31.1 percent of the total number of employed citizens accounted for women and 66.9 percent - for men.

Over the reporting month, 97.7 percent of the total number of citizens provided with jobs in the private sector. The number of unemployed in Turkey amounted to over 3 million people, 47.5 percent of whom are women, and 52.5 percent - are men.
