Movement of containers in Iran’s Khorramshahr port increases

The loading and unloading of containers in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 20 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Department, Nourollah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the department’s official portal.

According to Nourollah, the volume of containers loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port within 9 months amounted more than 152,000 tons.

The official added that a total of 2.39 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port over the past nine months.

“More than 15,000 TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in the port. This is an increase of 17 percent during the reporting period, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

According to him, about 632,000 tons of goods were loaded in the Khorramshahr port for 9 months and exported to the countries around the Persian Gulf. This is an increase of 89 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.
