Turkmenistan sells aviation, lighting kerosene to number of countries on exchange

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11

Entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan purchased aviation and lighting kerosene, as well as gasoline produced at Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries in foreign currency on the State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan during the last week, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

In addition, entrepreneurs from Russia, the US, China, the UAE, Turkey and Azerbaijan bought cotton yarn, licorice roots and rhizomes in foreign currency.

The total amount of transactions on the exchange in foreign currency exceeded $4.9 million.

Transactions in Turkmen manat were also made on Turkmenistan's exchange. Thus, entrepreneurs from the UAE, Scotland, Pakistan and Kazakhstan purchased cotton yarn for a total amount of over 26.9 million Turkmen manat ($7.7 million).

Local businessmen purchased mash and cotton fiber on the domestic market for a total amount of more than 2.4 million manat ($687,704)

In general, 27 transactions were registered on the exchange last week.

The State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important agency of state regulation of export-import operations.
