Export of cigarettes from Georgia to Azerbaijan down

Georgia exported 735.03 tons of cigarettes to Azerbaijan in the amount of $19.17 million in 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

During the reporting period, the export of cigarettes to Azerbaijan decreased in value terms by $13.68 million, or 41.64 percent, and the export volume decreased by 711.71 tons, or 49.1 percent. In 2019, Georgia exported 1,446.74 tons of cigarettes to Azerbaijan in the amount of $32.86 million.

In 2020, the total volume of cigarette exports from Georgia amounted to $88.92 million, which is 15.4 percent less than a year earlier. In the reporting period, Azerbaijan accounted for 21.6 percent of cigarette exports from Georgia.

In 2020, the volume of trade between Georgia and Azerbaijan amounted to $934.4 million.

According to the document, Azerbaijan, with a share of 8.2 percent in Georgia's trade turnover, ranked fourth among Georgia's trade partners after Turkey, Russia and China last year.

Last year, Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 13.2 percent and amounted to $441.2 million.

In the reporting year, the total value of products imported by Georgia from Azerbaijan amounted to $493.1 million, which is 11.7 percent less than in 2019.
