Service industries play significant role in Turkmenistan's economy

In the structure of Turkmenistan's GDP, more than half is accounted for by gross value added (GVA) created by service industries, economic observer for Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan’s economic observer Valentin Trapeznikov, Trend reports with reference to 'CIS Today' web portal.

The analyst stressed that the share of the GVA of the relevant sphere in the gross domestic product of Turkmenistan is 50.5 percent in the first 11 months of last year.

He also noted that the structure of the GVA of the service industries is divided into the trade — 36.5 percent, transport, and communications — 21.1 percent, and other types of services — 42.4 percent.

The economic observer stated that approximately 91.5 percent of the GVA trade-in Turkmenistan is created by the non-state sector of the national economy, and the main factor of growth in this direction is the expansion of retail trade.

Turkmenistan's GDP growth rate was 5.9 percent in January 2021.

The volume of production increased by 4.1 percent in January 2021, compared to the same period last year.

The volume of retail trade turnover in comparison with the corresponding period in 2020 increased by 17.8 percent.

In January 2021, the plan for the revenue part of the State Budget was exceeded by 78.9 percent, and for the expenditure part – by 83.1 percent.

The size of the average salary in large and medium-sized enterprises of the country increased by 10.4 percent.

Some 105 social facilities, more than 222,900 square meters of housing, as well as engineering and technical structures were built under the new version of the National Rural Program in January 2021.
