Gold production at Iran's Zarshouran mine increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6

The production of gold bars at the Zarshouran gold mine in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 30 percent during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021) compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), Head of Zarshouran Gold Mines and Mining Industries Development Company Salar Bavand said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to Bavand, the company produced 1,041 kg of gold bars over the last Iranian year.

He added that the company produced 366 kg of 24-karat gold bars in the last 4 months of last Iranian year (November 21, 2020, through March 20, 2021). This is a new record for the company.

The official noted that the company's gold bars production in the last 4 months of last Iranian year increased by 104 percent compared to the same period the preceding Iranian year.

Bavand emphasized that the company implements a number of plans to increase production in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).

The Zarshouran gold mine is located 35 kilometers from the Tekab county of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. The Zarshouran Gold Mines and Mining Industries Development Company can produce 3 tons of gold bars a year.
