Main part of Iran's exports to Russia account for agricultural products

About 85 percent of Iran's exports to Russia in terms of value and 68 percent in terms of volume accounted for agricultural and food products over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 1.05 million tons of goods worth about $505 million to Russia last Iranian year. Of this, about $430 million accounted for agriculture, fisheries and food products.

Latifi added that so, Iran exported $95.5 million worth of apples, $56.7 million worth of pistachios, $30 million worth of kiwi and $28 million worth of grapes to Russia within the last Iranian year.

“Furthermore, Iran exported $22 million worth of cherries, $22 million worth of peppers, $16 million worth of tomatoes, $15 million worth of tomato paste, $12 million worth of fruit juice and jam, and $9.13 million worth of fresh greens last Iranian year. These were the main agricultural and food products exported by Iran to Russia,” he said.

The spokesman stressed that Iran also exported $8.8 million worth of lettuce, $8.44 million worth of fish and shrimps, $7.7 million worth of milk and dairy products, $4.4 million worth of garlic and $4 million worth of watermelons to Russia during the last Iranian year.

“At the same time, Iran exported $3.75 million worth of eggplants, $3.7 million worth of cabbages, $3.5 million worth of apricots, $3.27 million worth of cucumbers, $3.05 million worth of tobacco, $2.92 million worth of greens and thick-shelled fruits, $2.25 million worth of celery, $2 million worth of chocolate and biscuits, $1.67 million worth of onions, $1.23 million worth of table salt, $1.23 million worth of potatoes, $550,000 worth of tea, $235,000 worth of dried plants and mint, $300,000 worth of various spices and henna over the last Iranian year,” the official noted.
