Iran is expected to sign a final agreement with Azerbaijan and Georgia on growing agricultural products abroad, Director of Agriculture Department of East Azerbaijan Province Akbar Fathi said, Trend reports citing the department’s website.
According to him, it is planned to lease land for crop growing in both countries.
Fathi added that Iran imports an average of 14 million tons of animal feed and related products annually. It will be very economically viable to meet this need by growing crops in neighboring countries.
The director noted that the Agriculture Department of East Azerbaijan Province has implemented the program within the framework of the agreement with Georgia on the cultivation of corn and achieved positive results.
"Iranian investors can apply to the Agriculture Department of East Azerbaijan Province and get acquainted with investment opportunities in connection with the cultivation of agricultural products abroad," he said.
