Iran boosts mobile phone imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 4

Iran’s mobile phones imports increased by 102 percent in terms of value and 28 percent in terms of number during the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran imported 5.15 million mobile phones worth about $1.15 billion over the four months.

The spokesman added that the share of mobile phones in Iran's total imports amounted to about 8 percent.

According to the statistics of the IRICA, Iran imported 12.5 million tons of goods worth $14.5 billion in four months. The imports increased by 32 percent in terms of value and 5 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
