Geostat unveils TOP-3 countries exporting sugar to Georgia

Georgia paid $33.4 million for the import of 69,200 tons of sugar in 7 months of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to Geostat, this year the amount paid for sugar imports increased by 21 percent compared to the reporting period last year. For 7 months of 2020, Georgia paid $27.6 million for 77,000 tons of sugar.

According to Geostat, TOP-3 countries-exporters of Saar sugar to Georgia looks like this:

1. Brazil - $13.5 million, 31,800 tons
2.Turkey - $7 million, 14,100 tons
3. Poland - $5.7 million dollars, 11,200 tons.

As reported, the price of sugar in Georgia increased by 16.9 percent over the past year.

From January through July 2021, Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to $7.48 billion, which is 21.7 percent more than the same period last year.

Georgia's exports amounted to $2.27 billion (an increase of 27.8 percent), and imports - $5.20 billion (an increase of 19.3 percent).

The trade balance remained negative during this period - at the level of $2.93 billion.
