Iran looks to expand agricultural ties with Romania

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.7

Trend:

Iran is seeking to expand ties with Romania in scientific, technological, and agricultural sectors, Alimurad Sarafrazi, an official in the Ministry of Agriculture of Iran said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran is interested in starting a new cooperation with Romania regarding cultivation of soy, corn, and livestock feed, Sarafrazi noted.

"Romania is one of the leading countries in soy farming and could supply Iran's need for livestock feed. Iran is interested in importing the product via barter and other methods," said Sarafazi.

He said the two countries could exchange water management data and information about the effect of drought on agricultural and livestock products.

"Iran needs to educate the new generation of farmers, get them to know modern technologies, and Romania could help, considering its knowledge on the matter," said the official.
