Iran grants subsidies for agricultural inputs

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan. 10

Trend:

Iran`s government has granted 100 percent of promised subsidies for the agricultural inputs in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2021), said the Director-General of the Planning and Budget Department of the Iran Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The total amount of $821 million was allocated as subsidies for various agricultural inputs in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, said Hassan Ghasemi.

In addition to direct supports to output, Iran subsidizes agricultural inputs such as water, energy, and fertilizers.

According to the next Iranian year's budget bill (starts on March 21, 2022), Iran will officially get rid of its official subsidized exchange rate — at 42,000 rials to one US dollar — by the end of the current Iranian year on March 20, 2022, except for import of wheat and medicine.
