BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. The activity of 17 mines was resumed in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Hormozgan Province Ebrahim Sadini said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to Sadini, more than 175 billion rials (about $4.17 million) has been spent on the resuming the activity of the mentioned mines. As a result, 211 people were employed.

The deputy added that gypsum, halite, chromite, iron ore, and so on are extracted from the mines.

“Meanwhile, in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a number of tenders will be held in order to resume the activity of mines in the Hormozgan Province, and conditions will be created for authorized investors to invest in the mines of the province,” he said.

There are more than 230 mines in Iran's Hormozgan Province. The reserves of these mines are more than 1.5 billion tons, where 17 types of minerals are extracted.
