BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Iran’s raw steel consumption increased by 3 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

According to the report, Iran consumed a total of 6.67 million tons of raw steel in 3 months.

Meanwhile, in the same period last year, the figure stood at about 6.46 million tons.

In 3 months, billet and bloom consumption in Iran amounted to 3.74 million tons, which is a decrease of 2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (3.83 million tons).

Moreover, the country’s slab consumption for the reporting period was 2.93 million tons. This is an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (2.63 million tons).

Iran also consumed 5.22 million tons of steel products for three months, which is an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (4.67 million tons).

At the same time, 9.82 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in Iran over 3 months, which is an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Thus, about 8.44 million tons of sponge iron were consumed in the country in the same period of last Iranian year.
