BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26. The production volume of coal amounted to 8.2 million tons in Kazakhstan in June 2022, Trend reports via the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the bureau, this figure is 2.2 percent more than in June 2021, but 7.8 percent less than in May 2022.

In the first half of this year, coal production in Kazakhstan equaled 57.3 million tons, up by 5.7 percent on annual basis.

The country imported 64,100 tons of coal in June 2022, which is 13.5 percent less than in June 2021, but 51.7 percent more in monthly terms.

Kazakh coal imports amounted to 256,800 tons from January through June 2022, down by 10.9 percent compared to 1H2021.

In June 2022, Kazakhstan exported 2.7 million tons of coal, which is 14.1 percent more than in the same month of last year and 7.6 percent more than in May 2022.

Kazakh coal exports amounted to 17.8 million tons in the first six months of 2022, which is a growth of 18 percent in annual terms.

The bureau also noted that 5.4 million tons of coal were sold on the domestic market of Kazakhstan in June 2022, which is 2.9 percent more than in June 2021 and 13.4 percent more than in May 2022.

The sale of coal in the Kazakh domestic market amounted to 39.7 million tons from January through June 2022, which is one percent more than the same period last year.
