BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. In total, Iran imported 31 million tons of goods worth $48.5 billion, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports citing the administration.

“In 10 months, Iran's imports increased by 16.8 percent in value, while decreased by 6 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

Rezvanifar added that on average, each ton of the products imported into the country for the reporting period amounted to $1,571, which is an increase of 25.7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure stood at $1,249 in the same period last Iranian year.

The official also noted that Iran mainly imported essential products (including corn, rice, soybeans, wheat, sunflower oil, barley, compressed soybeans), and mobile phones in 10 months.

“Iran imported goods worth $15 billion from the UAE, $12.7 billion from China, $5.1 billion from Türkiye, $2.4 billion from India and $1.5 billion from Germany during the reporting period. The mentioned five countries accounted for 75.6 percent of the country’s total imports in terms of value," Rezvanifar pointed out.

Generally, Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to over 134 million tons worth $93.8 billion in 10 months.
