BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. In total, Iran exported 43.8 million tons of mining products worth approximately $11.1 billion, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the IMIDRO, Iran's mining exports for the reporting period decreased by 5 percent in value, while increasing by 4 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

So, Iran exported $5.19 billion worth of raw steel and steel products within 11 months, which accounted for 46.8 percent of total mining exports.

At the same time, $1.43 billion worth of copper and related products, $937 million worth of aluminum and related products, as well as $560 million of iron ore were exported from the country in 11 months.

In addition, Iran imported 4.05 million tons of mining products worth $4.47 billion during the mentioned period.

Currently, Iran’s steel production capacity is around 40 million tons annually. The figure is planned to increase to 55 million tons by 2025.
