Iran’s wheat imports decrease by over 50 times

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21. Iran's wheat imports decreased by 51 times in value and 53 times in volume, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to the statistics, Iran imported 14,100 tons of wheat worth $6.41 million in the 1st month.

Meanwhile, in the same month of last Iranian year, Iran's wheat import amounted to 763,000 tons worth $306 million.

Within the 1st month, Iran mainly imported wheat from Hong Kong, the Netherlands and the UAE.

Overall, Iran imported 1.83 million tons of goods worth $3.08 billion for the 1st month. The imports decreased by 13 percent in value and 24.8 percent in volume compared to the same month in the last year.
