Iran’s passenger car output rises by almost half

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Passenger car production in Iran increased by 45 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

Overall, 164,874 passenger cars were manufactured in Iran in 2 months, while in the same period last year, the figure stood at 113,771.

Also, Iran manufactured 98,942 passenger cars in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year alone (April 21 through May 21, 2023). This is an increase of 38 percent compared to 71,813 units in the same month of the last Iranian year.

Meanwhile, a total of 193,437 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-ups, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks and trailers and etc.) were produced in Iran within 2 months.

In total, 1.18 million passenger cars were manufactured in the country for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 35 percent compared to 874,000 units in the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

There are three giant car manufacturing companies - Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
